THE EFFECTS OF MUSIC ON THE SKIN

Happiness is the secret to glowing skin.

The key to looking beautiful is feeling beautiful. Music delivers a powerful response in the human body. It can boost memory, build task endurance, reduce anxiety and depression, stave off fatigue, improve your response to pain, improve the healing process, and help you work out more effectively. Most importantly, music has the ability to reverse the ageing process in the skin by stimulating the production of the bodies natural “Happiness Hormones” – Serotonin and Dopamine.

“Music is an important part of our physical and emotional well-being, ever since we were babies in our mother’s womb listening to her heartbeat and breathing rhythms.”

– Lead clinical psychologist of Austria General, Franz Wendtner.

Over the course of this year, the hardships of mental health have reached many homes across the world. The number of Canadians having suicidal thoughts has quadrupled during the pandemic, according to a new survey, raising concerns about the toll the outbreak is having on mental health. By 2020, the World Health Organization estimated that depressive illnesses will become the second leading cause of disease burden worldwide and the leading cause in developed countries like Canada. Mental illness indirectly affects all Canadians at some time through a family member, friend, or colleague. Almost one half (49%) of those who feel they have suffered from depression or anxiety have never gone to see a doctor about this problem. *Those feeling the effects of mental illness should seek professional help. However, there are many ways to assist in counteracting the effects of anxiety and depression. Music is a universally known and loved way of getting your daily dose of happiness. There is no time like now to spark joy for ourselves, and spread that joy to others!

Happiness and beautiful skin go together like “ramma lamma lamma ka dinga da dinga dong”.

Like other organs in the body, the skin is affected by the many hormones and chemicals produced naturally in the body.

Studies show dopamine has been found to increase the skins microcirculation and improve skin appearance and radiance, without associated irritation. Improved complexion, improved recovery of the skin barrier, and an increase in wellbeing are among many of the benefits of happiness on the skin. These happiness chemicals not only evoke positive emotions, but also brighten the skins complexion and enhances its immunity and response to environmental stressors.

A study from Austria’s General Hospital of Salzburg found that patients recovering from back surgery had increased rates of healing and reported less pain when music was incorporated into the standard rehabilitation process. These healing effects are seen throughout the entire body – including the skin.
